Curious.....
I guess we never really grasp how some things become so much a part of us.

March 7th 2007 Marvel Comics released an issue of Captain America. It was issue # 25 and it featured the Death of Steve Rogers.....the man who IS Captain America.

At first I shook my head at the utter stupidity of the Creative Control at Marvel but as time has passed I felt a heaviness around my heart. I was like hearing of the death of an old friend whom you haven't seen in years.

Cap was a Patriot in the best sense of the word. He represented the best traits in Man.

This world needs true Heroes in this day and age and we lost the best one we had.

And that makes me sad.

You and I talked about it at length. What it took for Steve to come to grips with lost time and take up the shield again.

Some people compare him to Superman. But really, and as much as I like him, Superman is practically immortal. Cap was just a man. Yet he still stood at the front. He still put his life on the line every day.

You can't compare guys like Superman, or Statesman, to Captain America. He was on a whole other level.

Cap was on a whole other level. You could always count on him to stand up for what was right with little regard for the personal cost. Some might call that tragic. I call it being a Hero.

Marvel doesn't have many characters that you can truely call Icons. In that sense, Cap and Supes were alike. I hope they have to sense and the coutesy to let his Memory rest and not to put some imitation in the suit. They tried that once and it failed.

    I swear...if I see a Red Cap and a Blue Cap I'm going to have a hemorage.

    Anyway.....

/em Salute to the Greatest Hero Ever

    Amen.

Right now the Punisher has his mask and rumors abound at him taking up the mantle. Somehow that rubs me wrong. While I dig Frank, he isn't Steve.

Brubaker says he's got the next two years of Cap books scripted. So, we'll see whats cooking.
